E. & T. Fairbanks & Company letters, 1834-1840.

The E. & T. Fairbanks & Co. letters include correspondence from field agents traveling through the state of Georgia to the home office in Vermont. A. Nelson Jr. reported to the company of sales prospects in Augusta in 1834, while describing the city and the railroad between Augusta and Charleston. Cyrus Eastman wrote three letters to the company from Savannah, Augusta, and Macon in February 1836. Eastman discusses the difficulties with the Creek Indians in the western part of the state. He informs the company that he has arranged for Cohen & Miller to sell their scales in Savannah, and Lippett & Higgins Company Merchants in Macon. Thomas Bishop posted a letter from Athens in October of 1840, in addition to business prospects he remarks on the election of William Henry Harrison.
